چکیده

Abstract Introduction Neoadjuvant long course chemo-radiotherapy (LCCR) is the standard of care for locally advanced rectal cancer. In June 2013 this institution implemented preoperative MRI post LCCR in an attempt to improve R0 resection rate. The aims projects were audit compliance with new policy and assess whether it had impact on Method All patients who underwent after between February 2017 their clinical notes audited ‘all have undergone should receive imaging rectum unless clinically contraindicated’. OBJECTIVE To analyse the efficacy of short-course (SCRT) versus long-course radiotherapy/chemoradiation (LCRT) as a neoadjuvant modality for the management of lower rectal cancer (LRC). METHODS A systematic review of the literature was undertaken. Selected trials were analysed to generate a summative outcome. RESULTS Seven trials on the efficacy of SCRT versus LCRT as a neoadjuvant modality...

Background: Colorectal carcinoma is the third most common cause of death in Iran. This study was performed in order to determine the appropriate distal clearance margin (DCM) for resection of rectal cancer in patients who undergo neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for sphincter preserving procedure. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted in Shahid Faghihi Hospital of Shira...

Identification of protein clusters predictive of tumor response in rectal cancer patients receiving neoadjuvant chemo-radiotherapy

Preoperative neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) is the gold standard in locally advanced rectal cancer, only 10-30% of patients achieving benefits. Currently, there is a need of a reliable selection of markers for the identification of poor or non-responders prior to therapy. In this work, we compared protein profiles before therapy of patients differing in their responses to nCRT to find nov...
